by Larry LubellA 2005 report issued by the National Insurance Crime Bureau reveals the top 10 cars stolen in 2003 coincides with list of most popular vehicles. Car thieves are still going after the nations most commonly owned vehicles. It is clear that most of these autos are taken to fill the underground Market for replacement parts.
People are often surprised that high price, and exotic autos are rarely stolen; aside from their Small numbers, high price, and exotic autos tent to draw greater attention (not something a thief wants). Also, people who buy $80,000.00 cars bring their cars back to the dealer to get serviced. Dealers are unlikely to risk their multi-million dollar investment buying hot parts- As a result Porsche’s and Ferrari’s are not as likely targets.
